Prague sits on land that was formerly part of the Sac and Fox Reservation. Opened by a land run in 1891, Prague was settled primarily by Czech immigrants. The town was incorporated in 1902 and named by the land owner, Eva Barta, after the city of Prague in the Czech Republic. In the past, Prague's economy was fueled by cotton farming. Although the city has grown to support industry and commerce, you can still feel the city's agricultural heritage.

According to Sperling's Best Places, the overall cost of living in Prague is 14.3% lower than the national average. Housing is especially affordable, with a median home price of $79,700. On real estate websites such as Zillow, you can easily find a 2-3 bedroom home for under $90,000. Water: The City of Prague provides water, sewer and sanitation services to residents. The town offers a convenient option to pay your utility bill online.

Electricity: The City of Prague and Canadian Valley Electric Cooperative are your local electricity providers.

Natural Gas: Oklahoma Natural Gas is the state's largest natural gas supplier.

Mobile Internet: The primary providers are Google Fi, T-Mobile, Verizon, AT&T, and Mint. 

Home Internet: The primary providers are Windstream, Vyve, Central Oklahoma Telephone, and Viastat.

Cable Television: The top providers in the area are Vyve, Dish Network, and DirectTV.

Prague is known for its annual Kolache Festival, held the first Saturday in May. The festival was started in 1952 in honor of the town's 50th birthday. The Kolache Festival is named after a fruit-filled Czech pastry, and each year approximately 50,000 Kolaches are consumed during the festival. Nearly 30,000 visitors flock to Prague each year for this unique celebration. Arts and crafts, rides and games, a parade, and live entertainment are just some of the festivities the town provides. At Christmas time we light our beautiful park with thousands of lights and Santa comes. We have refreshments, crafts and hay rides.
